Little-Known Black History Fact: Kamerra Brown
Kamerra Brown, the daughter of TJMS listener Wanda Brown, is the first African-American on the first ever NCAA equestrian team at a HBCU. In 2006, she was recruited out of high school for Delaware State University. She was one of the six founding members and the only black recruited. Delaware State is the only HBCU that has a NCAA team. It gives out 15 scholarships, and she is on a full ride. Of the 21 girls on the team, she is still its only African-American. She was captain of the team her sophomore and junior year, serving as co-captain this year. They are trying to eliminate the sport for budget reasons.
